Bill Easton has nearly twenty-five years of experience handling criminal trials and appeals with an emphasis on complex criminal cases in upstate New York. He has served as trial counsel for defendants charged with homicides in over fifteen counties in upstate New York. Prior to private practice, Bill worked for over ten years at the New York State Capital Defender Office. As the supervising attorney of the regional office of the Capital Defender Office, Bill served as the lead attorney or consultant in every capital trial held in western New York since the reenactment of the death penalty. Bill has twice been designated the by United States District Court to serve as “Learned Counsel” in multi-jurisdiction murder cases tried in the Western District of New York including the first federal death penalty prosecution in the Rochester area. Previously, he was a partner at a law firm, focusing on criminal litigation in federal and state courts, and he started his legal career as an assistant public defender in the Monroe County Public Defender's Office.

In 1999, Bill was presented with the Charles F. Crimi Award by the Monroe County Bar Association for his skilled advocacy for the poor. In addition to his practice, Bill also serves as an adjunct professor of law at the University at Buffalo Law school and has lectured on criminal law at Cornell Law School and Syracuse Law School. Bill serves a fact-finder for the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct and has presented to professional associations on a variety of topics regarding capital defense and jury selection.
